Her voice is so haunting, and I love it!

during the years of 2007-2011, dame maggie smith (prof. mcgonagall) continued to film the final harry potter movies, all while battling breast cancer. during the filming of harry potter and the half-blood prince, smith had shingles and was forced to wear a wig in order to continue filming. on the subject, smith said, “if there’s work to do i’ll do it. i’ve still got to stagger through the last harry potter. the cancer was hideous. it takes the wind out of your sails and i don’t know what the future holds, if anything. you feel so ghastly, you wouldn’t mind dying a lot of the time. the last couple of years have been a write-off, though i’m beginning to feel like a person now. my energy is coming back. i ought to pull myself together a bit.” she’s a truly incredible and inspiring woman, and should be admired greatly.
A true woman
Wind
Wind
Blowing through the trees
Chilling the body that is me
Breeze
Are you speaking to me
Whispers of who I am to be
Breath
Who made you and sent you here
Whose words do you carry
Voice
I hear you whisper my name
Say who it is You call me to be
“In Memory”
Today is one of those days where I miss you
I miss your voice, how you said my name
The sound of your laugh as you struggled
To tell a story that was eternally funny to you
There are days when I would give it all
To be able to call you on the telephone
Just to say hello
And there are other days when all I want
Is to see you face to face, and tell you
All the things I should have said
But never did
But today I see your face in everyone
I look into the eyes of a stranger
And I see you
Startled into silence I try to find words
The conversation continues without pause
But my mind is still settled on you
And all that will never be
I know I have joy in memories and love shared
But today is one of those days where I miss you
With all of my heart
I wrote this in memory of my grandmother, after a conversation with a dear old soul who could have been her sister. She died in March, and today would have been her 87th birthday.
